Students Present AI-Driven Defect Detection Research at 2025 Poster Symposium

Under the guidance of Dr. Sayed Mohsin Reza (Research Advisor), Dr. Sheikh Fahad Ferdous, and Dr. Sayed Mohsin, undergraduate researchers Dhruv Suraj and Sapan Sahah presented their poster titled “Comparison of Machine Learning Models for Automated Defect Detection and Thermal Analysis of Polymer Composites” at the 2025 poster symposium.

Conducted as part of ongoing research at the Data-Driven Decision Making Lab, the project investigates the use of thermal imaging combined with artificial intelligence to enhance quality control in polymer-based advanced manufacturing. The team compared the performance of various machine learning models in identifying defects, contributing critical insights into the efficiency and precision of data-driven manufacturing systems.
