5 Members of the Data‑Driven Decision Making (D3M) Lab presented four research projects at the Penn State Undergraduate Exhibition 2026, held at University Park. This annual exhibition showcases innovative undergraduate research from across the university, featuring hundreds of student projects spanning engineering, health sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.
The presented projects highlight the breadth of data‑driven research in the lab:
- Dhruv Sanghavi – “3D Segmentation of Zebrafish CT Scans for Medical Imaging Applications”, focusing on deep learning approaches for automated biological image analysis.
- Harsh Desai – “Quantum AI for Electricity Price Forecasting in Energy Markets”, exploring hybrid quantum-classical models for energy forecasting.
- Om Patel – “Machine Learning–Based Risk Profile Identification in Mental Health Disorders”, applying AI to analyze diagnostic delay and suicide risk using healthcare data.
- Santhosh Angelina and Pranav – AI‑based tick data analysis, investigating data-driven approaches for high-frequency or biological signal analysis.
Participation in this exhibition reflects the D3M Lab’s commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers and advancing interdisciplinary work at the intersection of AI, data science, healthcare, and engineering, while contributing to Penn State’s broader research community.
