As part of Penn State Harrisburg’s 60th Anniversary Celebration, faculty members showcased the AI Immersive Lab and its innovative research, educational initiatives, and technology-driven learning environments during a campus-wide poster exhibition held outside the TL Building.
The showcase highlighted the AI Immersive Lab’s mission of advancing immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, digital twins, and interactive learning experiences. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the laboratory’s ongoing projects, research collaborations, infrastructure, and its role in supporting interdisciplinary innovation across education, healthcare, and emerging technologies.
Among the featured demonstrations, Zainab Qazi showcased a smart glasses research project that explores the integration of augmented reality, artificial intelligence, voice interaction, and wearable computing. Throughout the event, visitors engaged with the research exhibit and learned about how emerging technologies can provide real-time information access and support innovative educational, healthcare, and workplace applications. The demonstration highlighted the potential of immersive technologies to transform the way users interact with digital information in hands-free environments.
The poster presentation was led by Dr. Faisal Kabir, Dr. Vatsa Patel, Dr. Bimal Ghimer, and Dr. Sayed Mohsin Reza, who engaged with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members throughout the celebration. The event provided an opportunity to demonstrate how immersive technologies and artificial intelligence are being integrated into research, teaching, and workforce development initiatives at Penn State Harrisburg.
The AI Immersive Lab showcase reflected the university’s continued commitment to technological innovation and collaborative research while celebrating six decades of academic excellence and community impact. The event also fostered discussions on future directions for immersive computing, intelligent systems, and experiential learning environments that can support the next generation of students and researchers.
